We’re more than just a rugby club, we’re one big family. A safe space for all!
Formed over 20 years ago, the Bristol Bisons is an incredibly unique club that holds a special place in the hearts of our members, their families, and the wider LGBTQ+ community. With an active membership base of over 80 members, we’re one of the largest inclusive rugby clubs in the South of England.
We welcome players and supporters of all abilities, backgrounds, genders and sexualities from Bristol and the surrounding areas. Through our contact and touch teams, we play competitively and socially across the UK and at international tournaments, all within a safe and supportive environment. No prior rugby playing experience is necessary!
Featured in global media and the TNT Sports documentary Pride on the Pitch, we’re a unique club that makes a genuine difference both on and off the field. Whether you’re new to the game or a lifelong player, you’ll find a welcoming home with the Bisons.

Welcoming everyone, no matter the experience level!
At Bristol Bisons we are passionate about diversity and inclusion and are proud to bring together players from every stage of their rugby journey. Our community incorporates players that have never played rugby before, players that are returning to sport after years away and those who may have had premiership academy or county team experience.
The coaching team here at the Bisons are all about shaping a rugby culture where everyone can belong, thrive and excel. In joining the Bisons you will be supported in finding your super power on the pitch, no matter your background. There’s no better time to get stuck in!
It’s not all about the rugby though as we’re quite the social bunch too. If we’re not on the rugby pitch, chances are we’re in the OCG or Queen Shilling. The Bisons truly is a place life long friendships are made.

At the Bristol Bisons, we pride ourselves on being a club where everyone has a place, whether they’re on the pitch or not. Supporters, retired players, injured players, and coaches are all welcomed into the heart of the team, with meaningful roles that keep them actively involved.
The Bisons ensure that anyone who can’t play still has opportunities to contribute through helping on match days, assisting with training, supporting social events, or taking on leadership roles within the club. We also offer pathways for greater responsibility, including coaching and refereeing courses for retired players or enthusiastic supporters who want to develop new skills and stay connected to the sport.
At the Bisons, belonging doesn’t depend on your ability to play.

The Bristol Bisons and The Bristol Bears formed a powerful strategic partnership in 2024 that celebrates inclusivity and community within rugby.
The Bisons work closely with the Bears on initiatives designed to make the sport more welcoming for everyone. Together, we host joint events, Q&A sessions, and visibility campaigns such as Rainbow Laces, helping to shine a spotlight on underrepresented groups in the game.
For the Bears, our partnership strengthens their commitment to ensuring every supporter and player feels part of the Bears family; for the Bisons, it brings new opportunities, greater support, and a platform to inspire others. It is a collaboration that shows how rugby can unite people, break down barriers, and lead positive cultural change.
